Rex tried to stop drinking and said he would for jeannetes birthday present. Lori said he had tried before but he could never stay off the booze. The first thing that comes to mind when i think of the Glass Castle is Rex Walls drinking. He causes the family issues instead of solving them. His drinking is also tearing the family appart, and jeanette and her father are now drifting in different directions.
